Our Vision & Manifesto

We have set out to create a vibrant family and community led market for everyone – where tradition meets uniqueness, with quality goods and services, locally sourced food, great value and a welcoming space to shop, eat and meet.

The new Market offers a fantastic social space in the town centre offering community activities and events in a unique shopping environment.

The new market occupies a prime corner location within Barons Quay, with bespoke designed fixtures and facilities including public toilets, indoor and outdoor seating and free WiFi to provide a significantly improved experience for customers and traders with a wider choice of stalls. The market has also been designed to complement the existing range of retail and food options already available in Barons Quay and help regenerate the town centre.

One wall of the market features the sixty-year-old ‘Indoor Market’ sign from the old market which has been restored; plus there are fifty hanging fish mobiles and a large, white-clawed crayfish mobile made from recycled plastic inspired by the nearby River Weaver hanging over the seating area. Eleven local primary schools were involved in the art project to design and make the mobiles.
